Preparation Checks Before Using the Official Form
Merchant names do not always reveal the category required by the official form. Review receipts and statements, use the form's current definitions, and keep a note explaining how recurring amounts were converted to monthly figures.
- Mixed merchants: A single retailer can include groceries, clothing, household supplies, gifts, and other categories; use the underlying receipt when available.
- Children's expenses: Preserve enough detail to distinguish school, childcare, health, and extracurricular entries under the current form and orders.
- Variable expenses: Document the period and calculation used for a monthly average instead of presenting an unsupported rounded figure.
