Our commitment

Jonathan D. Steele is committed to making steelefamlaw.com usable by people who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology. The site is built to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice for web accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

What we have done

• Semantic HTML with landmarks, a logical heading order and a "skip to main content" link at the top of every page.
• Text colours that meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio, including the gold accent on both light and dark backgrounds.
• Every control, including the podcast carousel, can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
• Links inside paragraphs are underlined rather than distinguished by colour alone.
• Descriptive alternative text on informative images, and page titles that describe each page.
• Responsive layouts designed to reflow on small screens and at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
• Automated checks with axe-core plus manual keyboard and screen-reader spot checks whenever the site changes.

Known limitations

• Embedded third-party services (podcast players, maps, appointment booking and payment forms) are controlled by their vendors and may not fully conform.
• Some older PDF documents linked from articles may not be tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will provide the content in an accessible format.
